The Butterfly is a symbol of change or transformation, joy and love. Carved in jade, this symbol will promote spiritual awareness, and love. A butterfly carved from jade holds a special romantic significance. Ancient Chinese legend tells of a youth who wandered into the garden of a wealthy mandarin in pursuit of a multi-colored butterfly. Instead of being punished for trespassing, his visit led to marriage with the mandarin's daughter.
This hairstick could have been a gift from the youth to his lover, a symbol of their transforming love for one another.
Built upon durable bamboo wood, this stick is topped with a polished jade drum atop silver pewter accents. More silver upifts the crowning focal point, an intricately carved jade butterfly, the details of it's wings and body scored into the stone.
The stick has an overall length of 6.75 inches and a usable length of 5.25 inches. "

I love butterflies and I love the color green. So, when I saw this stick go up for sale, I pounced on it immediately. And, as usual with Nightshade's sticks, it is even more breath-taking in person.
The butterfly is solid, but not too heavy. The stick itself is the perfect base.
I love it more every time I look at it!
