Description: From the box: Spin the Spin Pin clockwise into your style. Spin the Spin Pin counter clockwise to release from your style. For a secure hold, twist the first spin pin deep into your updo catching the hair against your head.

They have a light gold/coppery "light hair" option and a darker antiqued bronze color for "dark hair".

Pros: Light weight, just one holds my thick waist length hair
Cons: None yet

I just bought these since I can't get my hands on a set of hair scroos. I tossed my hair up in a standard cinnabun, spun one pin into it and it's now holding like a rock. I'm pretty sure I could go jogging and it would stay up. Adding the second pin is overkill, but it could be helpful with something more complicated like a figure 8. To hold this bun that securely I'd need at least 3 amish pins or a ficcare, and it would take me at least two if not three tries to get the ficcare comfortable and it still wouldn't be quite this solid.

They're 2.5" long and about .5" in diameter. The ends are capped like bobby pins, so they're not sharp. There are only the light and dark color options, but I don't think they'd ever show anyway.

They feel like they're made of a thick enough gauge wire so I can toss them in my purse and not worry about them getting all bent up.

So far I love them!

Pros: The best product I've found for securing fine hair
Cons:

I bought these on impulse and I'm a total convert. They are in my hair right now. I even used them this weekend while doing yard work, and they didn't budge. I use the brunette color on my dark brown hair, and it blends in perfectly. I have fine hair that is difficult to secure. This is the best product I've found for fine hair.

Pros: Actually holds straight, slick hair securely. Dark color matches hair. Sturdy. Inexpensive.
Cons: None.

I LOVE Goody's Spin Pins. I was highly suspicious at first, because my hair is so slick most hair sticks, forks, etc. just slide right out of my hair within minutes. With the Spin Pins, I can put up a bun that's stable & secure for the whole day. The ends are covered with plastic tips, so they don't irritate your scalp nor catch on hair. Very sturdy & strong. Easy to put in, even if you're hairstyle "challenged". They are currently my absolute *favorite* hair toy.

Pros:
Cons:

These work quite well on my slippery, tailbone-length hair. I tend to use 3 for a more secure hold on most updos.

Pros: cheap, doesn't pull hair, easy to use
Cons: I would wish for a slightly less tight coil--can be hard to get in at first.

I really like these. I bought two packages and I feel that I need 3 pins to hold my BSL+ hair. I have some long layers as well. 4 pins makes a very smooth, secure perfectly round bun, it looks like a sock bun. If I didn't have layers I'm sure just two pins would do it. I place them at 12, 9 and 5 o'clock and that seems to keep the bun even and secure. Best drugstore hair accessory I ever bought. I will continue to use these for a long while.

Edit: 12/15/10 One of these got stuck in my hair. I have thick hair and I forced the pin over too much hair and it got stretched out and was hard to get out of my hair. Not the end of the world, and it was certainly my fault, but I'd prefer these be wider. The coil is quite tight, so as long as you don't try to force too much hair through, it works nice.

Pros: They work! (for me)
Cons: Over priced

I bought these on a whim. I have thin-ish shoulder length hair, I only need one pin to secure my twist, or small bun.
I was pleased and surprised that these actually work exactly the way they claim to, at least for me. My twist stays in until I unscrew it.

I have went over and over it in my mind and I can't see how they would damage? I even twisted one through these tassels that that hang off one my scarves. I made the tassels into a loose bun and twisted a pin thru. Then I started deconstructing the whole thing, and a few of the tassels were bent at funny angles, but most of them weren't disturbed at all.

Pros: holds like cement
Cons: none for me

I was skeptical when I first heard of them, but I have officially been converted. I can hold a standard bun and a french twist alllll day with these keeping it all together. I am sad, however, that now I'm less likely to use the pretty hair sticks I have since it's so easy to insert the pins and they hold so dang well. I love them!!

Pros: Hold great. Don't pull hair.
Cons: Haven't found any.

I had my eye on these for awhile but I didn't know anyone who actually had them. The day before yesterday, I got into a conversation about keeping thick hair in a bun with a really nice woman that I haven't seen in a long time. She swears by these things and recommends them to her family and friends. I went out and bought a pair today and I'm really pleased. They stay in really well, don't show outside of the bun, and come in "hair colors". I'm so lucky, I got the last one at CVS.

Pros: Blends well, holds brilliantly, they don't slip out.
Cons: Expensive for mainstream, and I need more than 2!

I avoided these for a long time, terrified that they'd take one look at my hair and create a tangle that only scissors could remove. I was utterly wrong - they're brilliant. I've never had much luck with bobby pins, and my hair spits out straight Amish pins, but these hold my hair securely and without a fuss. I have four of them, and normally use 3-4 to secure an updo, or 1-2 to tuck the ends in on a hairstick-supported updo. The dark colour blends well with my mid-brown hair, and the ends don't hurt my scalp.

My only complaint is that they are on the pricey side for mainstream hairtoys, and I'd quite like about ten of them, rather than two.

Pros: easy to use and secure updo's all day long!
Cons: can be difficult removing them if you put them too far in.

I bought this product yesterday from Asda's in the U.K for a price of about £4.70 (can't remember the correct price). These are a wonderful product and are very easy to use. I have tried a number 8 bun, cinnamon and Gibraltar bun all with success.

My hair is thick and my bun felt very secure.

Here is a video I have made (excuse the voice and silly faces!( but its just to show how easy this product is.

Pros: Effective at keeping bun in place, doesn't tangle hair
Cons: Price, painful after awhile with classic-length hair

I personally will probably never use this product again. I can create more beautiful and stable buns with a hair stick or pins. However, perhaps I am just unaware of styles with the spin pins that don't hurt. So, I'm giving it a 5 because:

+2 pt: holds bun well for a long time
+2 pt: durable
+1 pt: aesthetics (disappears into my hair so no one can tell how it's staying and it doesn't come out)
-1 pt: Seems to have a very limited amount of uses
-1 pt: Price
-1 pt: Risk of catching spin pins on each other or other hair toys, especially with longer hair which is likely to require more than one spin pin.
-2 pt: Pain from styles and uneven distribution of pressure along scalp

Pros: Excellent holding power- even for thick hair
Cons: None

I just bought my spin pins a few days ago but I am very impressed with them already. I was able to use a single pin when I put my hair in a bun, and my hair is moderately thick. These would be great for anyone who does moderate to heavy exercise and wants to keep their hair up and out of the way. I put mine to the test with my toughest instructor and my hair never budged. Also, the spin pins do not slide out of your hair like the traditional bobby pin, which makes for a neater looking hairstyle that lasts all day long without much fuss. Overall, I love this product and will definitely be using them a lot.

Pros: Wont slip out, secure, east to use
Cons: price, tend to pull hair

I like these for a back up holding a bun with other things like hairpins or clips. I have not been able to master using several to hold up a bun. They hold like a rock to hold a bun together but not "up". I never have to worry about them slipping out, however they do tend to pull the hair more than I like and I always feel them.
I need to experiment with them more.
