I really like this shampoo. My hair feels wonderfully soft after using it. This is my first try at a sulfate-free shampoo (though it does contain sulfonate way down the ingredient list) and I was skeptical at first that it wouldn't work--but it does get my hair clean. The scent is light and pleasant. I actually can't remember exactly what I paid, but I'm sure it was less than $3.
The reasons it doesn't get a 10: I seem to need a lot of it to get my hair clean. This may be because I am adjusting from using a shampoo with harsher cleaning agents, but I have a harder time getting my hair clean with this.
Also, the bottle claims something about a rich lather. This, as best as I can tell, is a blatantly false claim. Of course, given the ingredient list, it's expected that this would be the case, but I'm not a fan of false claims.

Just a comparison

|
Cons:
|
compare to giovanni

I actually tried this shampoo in Florida after hearing it was supposed to be a generic formula of Giovanni Smooth as Silk which I use. I have to say although it does work well I like the trader joe smell much better!
And the giovanni stuff is more sudsing than the TJ but to me that is not a bad thing because I have a somewhat sensitive scalp.
HOWEVER, if you want a little more oomph you can get a little more power from giovanni with all the good of the TJ Nourish or more gentle with the TJ nourish than the Giovanni SAS.
I personally use the TJ Nourish shampoo and clarify the GV SAS, and use a totally different conditioner.
So find your mix!

Got hair clean, natural ingredients, cheap, easy to find
|
|
Cons:

somewhat waxy feel

This is also my first attempt at a no-poo shampoo. It leaves my hair really shiny and clean feeling, but I believe after a few uses it might leave a residue. I have been clarifying every few times with ACV and it has not been a problem. I would recommend it as an affordable, mostly natural shampoo.
