I cannot compare this to the Aveda Pure Abundance as I have never used it, but this shampoo is excellent. It was recommended by a stylist at an expensive salon and I love it. Light, fresh fragrance, rich lather. It is an SLS shampoo, but the SLS is tempered by cocamidopropyl betaine, which means it cleans thoroughly but gently - it didn't dry out my hair at all. It includes several nice plant oils and organic extracts, too. No cones, but the matching conditioner does have light cones. I have very fine hair and went through a major shed, and this did the trick for volumizing, without drying my hair or making it sticky. Such a deal! Wal-Mart has bigger sizes for an even better price per ounce. Also suitable for men - my husband is the victim of my shampoo obsession and the smell of this is fine for me or him.
